Teko still has Bafana ambition
Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Teko Modise was not shy to confess that he still has hopes of donning a Bafana Bafana shirt again.
Modise has had two great consecutive seasons in his Brazilian colours and is yet to get a call-up to the national setup.
Modise last represented South Africa in Warsaw against Poland in the Fifa international friendly on October 12, 2012.
However, the former Orlando Pirates play-maker still believes he has what it takes to play in Bafana’s midfield.
At Sundowns media day at their Chloorkop training ground, Modise was questioned on whether he has been thinking of retiring from international football with being 32-years-old.
“When the time to retire from the national team comes I will say so,” said Modise
“For now I still have ambition to play.”
The midfielder has had an excellent season for the Brazilians and has three PSL nominations show for it – Midfielder of the Season, Players’ Player of the Season and Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament.
With seven premiership goals to his name, Modise has been colossal for ‘Downs and he admits it is a great feeling being consistent.
“It’s been tough to wake up every day and be consistent.
“I’m grateful to be given the chance to play.”
