Newly-crowned Miss South Africa Liesl Laurie is “living off adrenaline” after her crowning on Sunday.

But life hasn’t always been easy for the 24-year-old beauty queen.

“Growing up, my mom was addicted to drugs and that was an experience in itself,” she said during an interview with eNCA.

“I think it taught me a lot about persevering and staying determined. It took a toll on my life, but I always looked on the brighter side.

“I didn’t look at everything all gloom and doom, but I looked at the brighter side and thanking God for the blessings that I did have.”
